(Chuck Muth) – Matt Cohen of the left-wing Democracy Docket – affiliated with Democrat super-lawyer Mark Elias, who used COVID as an excuse to weaken election integrity laws across the country – is at it again.
In a new screed published yesterday, Cohen went to great lengths in propagandizing misinformation in his attempt to thwart cleaning up voter rolls, including our effort here in Nevada.
To say he’s not being honest is a metaphysical understatement.
Cohen accuses “right-wing groups” of “attempting to disenfranchise millions of voters right before the November election.”
No, we’re trying to prevent INELIGIBLE voters from disenfranchising eligible voters before the November election; people who have moved from where they’re registered, often to an entirely new state.
He continues the dishonesty by claiming that organizations such as the Pigpen Project “have doubled down on efforts to have individuals removed from voter registration rolls across the country.”
Again, not true. Our efforts are focused on removing INELIGIBLE voters from the voter registration rolls.
Cohen then claims there are “24 active lawsuits” around the country “challenging or requesting removal of voters from state voter rolls.”
I can’t speak to those lawsuits since we’re not involved in them; however, our focus at the Pigpen Project is on requesting the removal of INELIGIBLE voters from our state voter rolls.
Through “requests to local election officials,” Cohen meanders on, “groups like…the Pigpen Project are pushing counties and states to remove millions of voters ahead of the upcoming election.”
No, we’re asking Nevada’s county clerks/registrars to remove thousands of INELIGIBLE voters ahead of the upcoming election.
Cohen goes on to quote recent Department of Justice (DOJ) guidance which suggests that “list maintenance activities” within the 90-day “blackout” period *may* violate the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA), including “comparing voter files to outdated or inaccurate records or databases.”
Doesn’t apply to us.
The records we’re relying on are the same records election officials rely on; the National Change of Address (NCOA) records provided by the United States Postal Service (USPS).
If those records are inaccurate, don’t blame us.
In addition, we’re using records that were released just a couple weeks ago, so that “outdated” dog won’t hunt either.
If we were attempting to remove eligible voters from the voter rolls, Cohen might have a point. But we’re not. We’re only attempting to remove INELIGIBLE voters from the voter rolls.
I wonder why left-wingers such as Mr. Cohen and Mr. Elias object to that?
