SOS, AG Do “Snoopy Dance” over Lawsuit Withdrawal, However…

(Chuck Muth) – On Friday, we withdrew our lawsuits against four county clerks/registrars over their refusal to process our voter challenges.

The objections to our suits by the secretary of state, the attorney general, the ACLU and “voting fraud denier” Mark Elias were based on trivial, nitpicking issues that we might or might not have won on in court.

In our attorney’s opinion, we would be better off adjusting our challenges and come back in a stronger position…which we’ve already done with the filing of over 300 new challenges last week.

In announcing our decision over the weekend, I held out hope that Nevada Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar – “if he honestly wants to see the voter rolls cleaned up” – would “change course and decide to help us help him instead of just blowing us off.”

Sadly, no.  Instead of taking this opportunity to establish a working relationship with us, he issued a “na-na-na-na-boo-boo” statement yesterday that was loaded with misinformation and false allegations.

For his part, Attorney General Aaron Ford issued his own over-the-top victory statement and characterized our voter challenges as “vigilante voter roll maintenance.”

Outrageous.

We’re not “vigilantes.”  We’re CITIZENS with a legitimate concern.  But Ford and Aguilar are doing everything possible to frustrate our efforts to make sure the voter rolls are clean and accurate.

Aguilar talks a good game, but the fact remains that there are still thousands of people on Nevada’s voter rolls who have moved to another state, registered to vote in another state, and in some cases that we’ve documented, have voted in another state.

But because of Aguilar, those individuals are ALL being sent Nevada ballots to an address where they NO LONGER LIVE, opening the election to potential fraudulent voting.

This is happening NOW.

In patting himself on the back, Aguilar claimed: “There are multiple systems in place to make sure that every eligible Nevada voter – and only eligible voters – can cast a ballot and have that ballot counted.”

Total B.S.

Indeed, while it’s true there are “multiple systems in place” for list maintenance, it’s also true that the systems in place have missed thousands of INELIGIBLE voters who shouldn’t be on Nevada’s voter rolls but are being sent ballots anyway.

How do I know that?

Because some of the county clerks processed our original challenges back in July – before Aguilar directed them to reject them – and multiple voters have contacted me directly (my phone number is on the challenges) and confirmed that, yep, they’d moved and were no longer eligible to vote in Nevada.

In fact, one called…we talked on the phone…I explained the situation…and advised him how to fill out the form (see below, name redacted) and return it to his county clerk…

More proof?

A woman in Reno posted the following on Facebook yesterday…

In case you can’t see the image, Ms. Reid wrote: “Oh, look! I was sent 13 voter ballots in the mail. None of them are mine.”

Ask yourself this question: If there are procedures in place, why are there so many people on the voter rolls who have moved from their residence but weren’t caught in the “routine list maintenance” program used by election officials?

Contrary to Aguilar’s claim, Nevadans can NOT “rest assured that our elections remain accurate and secure” because the voter files are still extremely “dirty” and the secretary is blocking any effort on our part to help clean them up.

But…why?

Why is Nevada’s secretary of state going out of his way to make sure ballots are delivered to people who won’t receive them since they’ve moved (ballots are NOT forwardable)?

Why – if, in fact, a voter has permanently moved out of Nevada and is no longer eligible to vote in Nevada – does the Secretary want to keep them on the voter rolls, thus increasing the potential for voting fraud AND costing Nevada taxpayers a ton of money to mail ballots to people who no longer live here?

And he wonders why so many people have so little faith in the system despite his claims that “all’s well, nothing to see here.”

There is a legitimate problem with the voter rolls in Nevada that the attorney general, the secretary of state, and several county clerks/registrars are trying to sweep under the rug rather than do anything about them.

But all they’ve done is kick the can down the road.

Our objective is, and always has been, a fair and transparent election for Nevadans. We’ve acted responsibly and in good faith in challenging registrants who have moved and no longer live where they’re registered.

Because only ELIGIBLE Nevada voters should get ballots.

As Nevadans start to receive multiple mail ballots at their homes, they can thank Secretary Aguilar for not working with us and taking the necessary steps to clean up the voter rolls MONTHS AGO.

We gave him and the county clerks/registrars all the data necessary to fill the gaps in their flawed “routine list maintenance” programs but most ignored it, forcing us to issue the challenges.

And the only thing these challenges do is require election officials to verify that the registrants live where they say they do and not in another state.

Why do election officials want to waste taxpayer dollars on sending tens of thousands of ballots to people who don’t live here anymore?

We asked the SOS to work with us and provide guidance. He refused.

So we were left to try to figure out this complicated, Byzantine system on our own. And now, thanks to our opponents – including Mark Elias & the ACLU – we know better how to proceed.

Indeed, that’s why we let them all intervene in the lawsuits and didn’t object.  They unwittingly gave us a “roadmap” for moving forward.

So we’ll let Ford and Aguilar take their little Snoopy dances over this.  But it’s only the bottom of the first inning.  And if they think this little setback is gonna make us quit, they’re sadly mistaken.

Batter up!
