Here’s the “Massive” Key to Election Security

(Chuck Muth) – Words mean stuff.

The right alleges “massive” voting fraud without proof.  The left denies “massive” voting fraud without proof.  That’s mainly because voting fraud is extremely difficult to find and verify after an election.

The key to better election security is in cleaning up the voter rolls BEFORE an election so persons ineligible to vote aren’t automatically mailed a ballot.

However, the focus on the word “massive” distorts the debate.  Unless enough fraud is exposed to change the results of an election, the left’s position is, “no harm, no foul.”

But there is harm.  As former U.S. Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams put it, “If even one vote has been illegally cast or if the integrity of just one election official is compromised, it diminishes faith in the process.”

Without a doubt, the public’s faith in our elections has been in decline since at least the infamous “hanging chad” presidential election in Florida in 2000.  And doubts have been on steroids throughout the country since the 2020 presidential election.

In Nevada, Donald Trump lost the state by some 33,000 votes.  But Trump’s campaign team and the Nevada Republican Party were unable to present a sufficient number of contested votes that would change the outcome.

As noted previously, the race Republicans should have focused on in 2020 was the Clark County Commission race between Republican Stavros Anthony and Democrat Ross Miller.  In that race, Anthony lost by only about a dozen votes in an election the Registrar of Voters admitted had 129 “discrepancies” it couldn’t account for.

And close races that could be swung by voting fraud aren’t as rare as people think – or the left would have you believe.

In fact, the Public Interest Legal Foundation reports that “403 tied elections occurred within the 2022 election cycle alone.”  And that doesn’t include hundreds more that were decided by just one vote or were deemed “close.”

“The media claims that voter fraud happens on such a small scale it could never impact who wins an election,” notes PILF president J. Christian Adams.  “This report proves that every single vote matters. We do not want an illegal ballot affecting the outcome of an election.”

No we don’t.  And the best way to prevent such from occurring is to clean up the voter files before an election so no ballot is mailed to an ineligible voter.  An ounce of prevention…
